John “Jack” E. Winkler 1933-2016

WINKLER, John (Jack) E.

February 15, 1933 to September 4, 2016

Jack Winkler died at his home on September 4, 2016, at the age of 83.  He is survived by his three sons Erik Winkler, Kevin Winkler and Bret Winkler; his sister Jan Deaton; and his four grandchildren, Sabine, Vivian, Connor, and Addison.

Jack was born in Salt Lake City.  He attended Fairfax High School in Hollywood and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UCLA and an MBA from Stanford.  Jack served in the Navy at China Lake for a few years, and then continued working in the aerospace industry.  Jack lived in San Marino before moving to Mammoth Lakes where he lived out his days.  An avid skier, backpacker, fisherman, and hunter, he enjoyed all that Mammoth had to offer with his line of German shorthair pointers.

The family invites those who wish to pay their respect to attend the memorial service at Mammoth Community Church, located on the SW corner of Main St & Sierra Park Rd in Mammoth on Saturday, September 24th at 1 pm.
