Patricia Anne (Lammiman) Gardner was born on December 3, 1952 in San Luis Obispo, CA. Pat passed away peacefully with her family around her at the Northern Inyo Hospital on March 24, 2018.
Her family moved to Bishop, CA in 1960 after her father transferred to a position which was then the California Division of Highways. She attended Bishop schools, graduating from Bishop Union High School in 1971 before attending the College of Idaho, graduating in 1975 with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She then attended Northwestern University Medical School earning a Graduate Certificate in Physical Therapy in 1976. She began her career as a Staff Physical Therapist for Mercy Hospital in Redding, CA.
On February 11, 1978 she was married to Ted Gardner and recently celebrated their 40th anniversary together.
Ted and Pat returned to Bishop in 1981 with their one year old son, Christopher Gardner. David Gardner was born in 1983. Pat worked part time for Lee Baumgarth in his Physical Therapy practice. She eventually purchased the practice and was an original Partner in the Pioneer Medical Associates Medical Building which was formed in 1986 with eight doctors. She formed Sports Medicine and Rehab Therapy, Inc. with Chris Matteson in 2006. A changing healthcare environment brought about a decision to sell the private practice in 2009. Efforts to sell the business to the Northern Inyo Hospital were unsuccessful. The private practice closed at the end of 2010. Pat continued to work at various times for the Bishop Care Center, Pioneer Home Health and Mammoth Hospital until the end of 2016 when she retired as a Physical Therapist.
Pat Gardner was elected to the Bishop Elementary school board in 1992, serving for 15 years. In 2012 she was elected to the Bishop City Council.
Pat was an active member of the former Junior Women’s Improvement Club and the Bishop Elks Lodge. She dedicated her life to the service of her community, family and faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Lammiman and her mother, Irene Lammiman. She is survived by her husband, Ted; children, Chris Gardner (Cassie) and David Gardner (Amanda); grandchildren, Dylan, Jordan, Jaxon, and Aubrey; brother, John Lammiman (Kathy) and numerous, wonderful nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will held at the First United Methodist Church, in Bishop, on Saturday April 7, 2018 at 11am with a reception immediately following at the Bishop Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local charity of one’s choice.
