Bryan Lawrence Miller 1961-2021

Bryan L. Miller was 60 years of age when he passed away suddenly on June 25, 2021. He was born on January 1, 1961, in Bishop, CA to Ira and Hazel Miller. He was dubbed “Mr. New Years” because he was the first baby born that year.

He was a true “Piner” for most of his life and was proud of the community he grew up in.  He was an active member of the Big Pine Volunteer Fire Department for 32 + years. His interest in being on the fire department, started as a high school teenager.  He would always attend the weekly fire practice at the fire house every Wednesday night.  He was dedicated to protecting the community in this way.

The best way to describe the type of person he was, was written by the people of the community he served. They say, he was a dedicated fellow fireman, a classmate, a good friend, a well-known man, a gentle and quiet spirit, was an honor to know him and nicest guy always willing to help. To his family, Bryan was a great brother, uncle, friend and cousin and he will live on in our memories and hearts.

He is survived by; brothers; James Miller (Maryetta), Lloyd Miller, Wilfred Miller (Bridgette) Sisters; Marion Miller and Helen Spratt. Also survived by nephews, nieces, numerous relatives, and friends.

 

Bryan is preceded in death by parents Ira and Hazel Miller, brothers William Miller, David Miller, Alvin Miller; sister Evelyn N. Miller and nephews; Thomas Miller, James (Barnz) Miller, Vincent Miller, Eldan Miller and Samuel Miller.

 

To honor their fellow fireman and give Bryan his last ride, there will be a procession of local fire department vehicles lead by the Big Pine Volunteer Fire Department traveling from Brune Mortuary in Bishop to the Alan Spoonhunter Memorial Gym in Big Pine.  This will take place prior to memorial services.

 

Memorial service will be held July 17, 2021, at 10:00 AM, inside at the Alan Spoonhunter Memorial Gym at 1050 Richard Street, Big Pine, CA.  Wear your facemask and maintain social distance.  Interment is at Woodman Cemetery in Big Pine.
