Cheryl L. Stewart, 1946-2021, passed away peacefully at home in Bishop, CA on June 15, 2021.  Cheryl, lovingly known as “Cheri” to family and friends was born July 10, 1946 to Pene Smith in Schenectady, N.Y.  Cheryl’s mother and stepfather moved to the west coast settling in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area.  After high school Cheryl married and had one child in 1970. That marriage

ended and in 1976 she met her current husband of 45 years, Ray Stewart.  In 2004, they decided to move to Bishop, CA to be closer to family and live a better lifestyle.  Cheryl loved volunteering for many events and organizations in town.  She was an active Altrusa member for 15 years, and was recently inducted as a lifetime member.  She was also a longtime member of the Lions Club and will be truly missed.  Cheryl

is preceeded in death by her mother Pene Smith, stepfather Wayne Smith, mother-in-law Arliss Stewart,father-in-law Alex Stewart and bother-in-law Gary Stewart.  Cheri is survived by husband Ray Stewart, her son Steven Foster, step son Andrew Stewart, her brother Daryl Smith, grandsons Justin and Dalton Foster, brother and sister-in-law Dave and Debra Stewart, Roger and Vicky Mitchell and many nieces and nephews.  A celebration of life is set for August 8, 2021 from 1:00 to 6:00 pm at the VFW hall in Bishop.  Any donations please make pay able to the cancer alliance of Bishop.
