Chuck A. Phelps 1933-2021

It is with heavy hearts that the Phelps family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Dad entered eternity life on July 18, 2021 at the age of 87.

He was born to parents LeRoy Phelps and Marie St Aubin. Dad enlisted in the Army as a paratrooper and later fought in the Korean War. When he returned, he found his favorite job has a manager for an Ice Cream parlor. Dad then started to work for the Postal Service and found his wife that worked on his route, and retired later after 35 years of service as a postal carrier. Dad also volunteered for the San Bernardino Forestry Service. He was also an avid skier, scuba diver, reader, and loved to take camping trips with his family.

Dad graduated with a Bachelors in History and a Minor in Psychology from Cal State San Bernardino. After retiring from the postal service dad and mom retired in Chalfant Valley, Ca after skiing at Mammoth Lakes many times in the past. They fell in love with the area and built their mini ranch with horses and donkeys. Dad went on pack rides with the Reds Meadow Pack Station and loved to take horse rides around the area. He would say “I have a flat bottom and that’s why I don’t fall off my horse”.

Dad is predeceased by his wife Margaret and is survived by daughters Christina (Rich) and Heather (Wayne) and has 5 grandchildren, and soon to be 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass services will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Catholic Church, in Bishop, Ca on July 30th at 10:00 AM. Burial at East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop will follow mass services.  The family requests in lieu of flowers and donations, that a donation to your favorite charity in Chuck’s name.
