Martha Lou (Flynn) Blain 1941-2022

Martha Lou (Flynn) Blain of Bishop, CA passed away at her home on Tues. March 22, 2022 at the age of 80 years old. Martha (Marty) was born, the oldest child to Joseph (Russell) Flynn & Eliza (Catherine) Davenport Flynn on April 6, 1941 in Clarke County, Osceola, IA Marty was educated in Osceola where she graduated with the class of 1959. She then attended a college of business in Des Moines.

On Aug.27, 1960 she was united in marriage to Larry E. Blain@ St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Osceola. Later that same day, Larry moved his new bride to Southern California in his 1956 Chevrolet. To this union, two children Michelle Lynn & William Mark were born.

Marty was a devoted wife, mother, and a loyal friend to many. She & Larry enjoyed traveling, collecting and attending classic car shows.

Once they moved to Bishop the couple started their business, Hawkeye Enterprise where she was actively involved as CEO & Secretary. Marty enjoyed working beside her husband.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Mark of Bishop along with his children Breanne Blain (Mary Jo Nava) and William Tyler Blain. Grand-daughter Jade Hupp Shedd (Jace) also survives along with great grandchildren, Mason Blain Nava, soon to arrive Owen Blain Nava and Colt & Remmington Shedd. Larry’s brother, Gerald (Lynn) Blain & his family all of Southern California Survive. Her family from Iowa include brother Joseph (Richard) Flynn (Marie) of Creston & their grown sons Jeremy, JR, & John and their families, sister MaryAnn Toland (Neil) of Wapello along with families of Josh, Ben, & Elizabeth.

Marty was greeted at Heaven’s Gate by her best friend, the love of her life & husband of 60 wonderful years, Larry Blain & their beautiful daughter Shelly. Proceeding her in death were parents Russell & Catherine Flynn and parents in law Gerald & Josephine Blain.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Catholic Church @11AM Friday April1,2022 with Father John Gracey officiating. She will be laid to rest after at E. Line St. cemetery, Bishop.
