Heaven gained a wonderful husband, son, uncle, brother, friend, and small-town hero. Monroe Paul Prange, age 52, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2024.
Born in Bishop, California, on December 20, 1971, to Paul and Linda Prange, Monroe spent
most of his life in Bishop, where he cherished the outdoors, fishing, and meeting new people.
He was known for his love of LEGOs, M&M’s, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Monroe attended several community colleges, including Humboldt, Ridgecrest Cerro Coso, and
Bishop Cerro Coso where he obtained an A.A. degree.
The restaurant industry played a significant role in his life, starting with Paradise Resort in 1988, where he formed many lifelong friendships. His passion for connecting with others often turned a quick errand into a lengthy conversation, earning him the affectionate title of “the Mayor” among friends.
Deeply rooted in his community, Monroe was actively involved in the Neighborhood Church and approached his lifelong illness with remarkable strength, endurance, and even humor. He was a fighter until the end.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Anna Taplin; his mother, Linda Prange; sister,
Ginelle Prange; brother, Tye Prange (Stefannye); sister-in-law, Sarah Simpson (Brian); and
numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
father, Paul Prange.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, October 18th, at 3:00 PM at the Neighborhood
Church, with a reception to follow at the Tri County Fairgrounds Heritage Arts Building.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Neighborhood Church Youth Camps or the
National Kidney Foundation.
