She was a beach girl and loved going to the beach and living close to the ocean. Donna & her family also loved the mountains of the Eastern Sierra and camping. One of Donna’s favorite trips was to hike up to 2nd lake out of Big Pine & spend the week camping & fishing with many of her Aunt’s, Uncle’s & numerous cousins. Donna and Jim made their home in Torrance, CA and enjoyed raising their three children. They continued the family traditions of beach outings and camping trips.
Many family vacations to Bishop and the Mammoth Lakes were made over the years to see family and to enjoy all that the mountains had to offer. Donna enjoyed sitting at the Main Lodge in Mammoth to watch her children ski down the mountain. The Mammoth Hot Creek was also a favorite for the family to gather. They also enjoyed vacations on the Colorado river where all three of their children learned to water ski.
Donna and Jim were also involved in their church. Donna had many close friends that she cherished, old and new that have literally lasted a life time. Donna & Jim loved to dance, they Ballroom danced, Disco danced and later in life square danced for many years up in Northern Ca & here in Bishop.
When the time came to retire, Donna and Jim moved up to Humboldt County for a few years, where they found themselves seeking to know God in a deeper way during a very hurtful and difficult time.
God was faithful in hearing & answering their prayers. Both Donna and Jim became born again Spirit filled believers. They had never known what it meant to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. It was a whole new beginning of a new life. The Lord quickly called them to leave Northern CA, and too relocate to Bishop CA in 1987.
Donna’s greatest love was Jesus and her family. They built a house here and dedicated it as a sanctuary to the Lord. It was the house the Lord built. Donna taught many bible studies out of this house and many missionaries, preachers and teachers of the word found this house to truly be a sanctuary .
This home has also been a sanctuary for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
All of the grandchildren would love to come to Bishop to visit grandpa & grandma in the summers and holidays. There were always many outings in the great outdoors to explore and mountains to climb, lakes to fish, campfires to gather around with hot chocolate and s’mores. Lots of jeep trips and traveling in the motorhome or just to swim in grandpa and grandmas pond make homemade ice cream & root beer floats.
